To All My Fellow Hygienists:

As I take the office of Presidency for the Bay Area Dental Hygienists' Society, I would like to thank everyone for letting me be your President. During this time, I think of what I would like to accomplish to have a successful year. One of my personal goals is to increase public knowledge of our society. To let them know WE are their Dental Hygienists! That our job is to help educate and keep their smiles beautiful and healthy, not just clean their teeth. I think that if we make ourselves known in the communities by community service, then they will know how important we are to their health. Increasing our patients' knowledge will help secure our jobs from being delegated in the present and future. So, this year BADHS will be serving in the community. Check for updates on community services opportunities, times and places. Everyone, including spouses and families are welcome to join us! If there are any suggestions for programs we may not be aware of, please contact me.

Another goal is to increase membership, by getting hygienists and future hygienists excited about visiting and relaxing together at our monthly CEU’s. Our meetings give us a break from our daily lives, after all, who understands your daily work struggles better than your own peers.

BADHS and Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Society will be teaming up again to meet and greet the UT and Wharton Community Junior College dental hygiene students. We will be informing all the newcomers of all the benefits of keeping up their ADHA and TDHA membership after graduation. Please feel free to join us in welcoming our future hygienists! A great way to stay connected to ADHA, TDHA and BADHS is by Facebook! Each level of your professional association has their own Facebook page that you can see regardless of your membership status. You can also visit any of the website addresses for more information by going to www.adha.org, www.texasdha.org, or www.badhs.org.

Next, I would like to remind everyone that this is a legislative year. We need every voice to go with us to Austin, as we campaign for our future! This is a fun way to spend the weekend with your fellow hygienists from all over the state. It is also a great way to visit our state capital, by walking through the halls knowing you are on a mission and they are there to listen to what we have to say.

In closing, I would like to thank you again for allowing me the privilege and honor to serve as your President. I look forward to seeing you at our monthly CEU’s!

Sincerely,
Samantha Wester-Totty, R.D.H.
President BADHS
